My Irish Holiday 2019 – Part 3 Londonderry and Portrush

After we left the Giant’s Causeway and Belfast, we went to Londonderry (Derry). When we arrived in Londonderry, we went to a small house that was nice and cosy with an electric fire with images of flames on the front of it, and comfy couches.

When we left the house, we went to a bustraunt (a bus that had been converted into a restaurant) called Pyke ‘N’ Pommes, that was next to the river (Foyle).

There were really nice views over the river and terrific tacos to go with it. I had squid, steak and cauliflower tacos, which were all delicious!

Then we had a walk around the walls and saw the Peace Flame (unlit) and lots of murals. We also saw the Bloody Sunday Memorial.

The next day, we went to a museum about the walls of Derry and why they were made.

The walls were built in 1613-1618. They were made to defend people who settled in Derry in the 17th century. There was lots of interesting information including a detailed timeline of the history of Derry.

Then we drove to Portstewart Strand, which is a beach over 2 miles long. We wanted to go for a nice walk over the beach, however we couldn’t as it was raining really hard!! Instead, we went and had some delicious bread and Camembert-like cheese in a restaurant called Harry’s shack nearby.

Afterwards, we went to Portrush, which is a town near Portstewart Strand, where we went to a nice house for the night.

It was a really nice house and was very homely. We then went to a small amusement park where we played 2p machines for hours. We got lots of tickets and cashed them in for a BB-8 lamp. We also went on the wheel outside a few times and we saw some nice views over Portrush.

Then we went for a walk along the coast and saw dolphins! They were quite far away behind a canoe. They were really cute and looked amazing!

We then went to a nice tapas restaurant for tea and had lots of lovely food including oysters and mussels.

Sadly, we had to leave the next day to drive back to Dublin and get on the ferry to home.

When we got off the ferry, we went to a really nice fish and chip restaurant called Enochs in Wales. It was really tasty and I loved the hake that we had along with some amazing chips, fantastic frickles ( battered pickled gherkins) and mushy peas.

This is the end of my lovely holiday in Ireland and I loved it all. Ireland is a place that I definitely want to go back to.

My Irish Holiday 2019 Part 2 – Belfast

When we left Dublin, we drove over the border to Northern Ireland and went to Belfast. Once in Belfast, we went to a flat with the most comfortable beds that I’ve ever slept in!

From the flat, we could see some H&W cranes, which I learnt were shipyards and that the Titanic was made in one of them! They are enormous and look really cool.

When we went in the museum, I got locked in a holding cell and was stuck in a tiny enclosed space. Then we went into a tunnel which led under Crumlin Road and to the court building.

Out of the tunnel, we went up to the Governor’s office where we saw the Centre Circle where all of the wings join together next to the Governor’s office.

We then went down the C wing and saw where prisoners would live, eat and work.

If prisoners weren’t behaving, then they got beat with a birch rod 18 times if they were under 18, or if they were over 18 they could be hit by the cat o’ nine tails (the cat) or the birch rod 36 times. The cat was a rod made of nine ropes of cotton twisted together. It was a type of whip. There were some old army vehicles outside as well.

We then went to a restaurant called Mourne Seafood Bar, where I had langoustines, a lobster burger and a buttermilk panna cotta with strawberries and really crumbly shortbread.

When we were going back to our flat, we saw lots of murals on the walls of houses and other buildings.

The next day, we went to the Titanic Belfast Experience.

There were lots of parts of it including the makers Harland and Wolff and how they made it. It took over 10 months to decorate the inside of the Titanic with furniture, carpets, etc. We also went in a 360° cinema to take us on a tour of the Titanic in her beauty days. After she set off from Dublin she went to Southampton then to Cherbourg, France and then to Cobh, Republic of Ireland then the bottom of the ocean when she sunk in the North Atlantic Ocean. We went in a cable car and had a look around a shipyard that was built into the museum. Finally we went to the cinema and saw what she’s like today, resting under the ocean.

When we got back to the apartment I saw the film Titanic for the first time.

The next day, we left for Londonderry, but on the way we went to the Dark Hedges and the Giant’s Causeway. The Dark Hedges are made up of beech trees and look really interesting.

The Giant’s Causeway is only 12 miles from Scotland and if it’s a clear day you can even see part of Scotland from the Giant’s Causeway. The Giant’s Causeway is a lot of hexagonal shaped rocks that were made from lava fissures but look like they have giant’s features in them. The main giant was called Finn McCool and got into a fight, which was how the Causeway was made. He had a camel as well to ride home on. It was really interesting and I would love to go back again.

My Irish Holiday 2019 Part 1 – Dublin

The other day after breakfast, we went on a drive to Holyhead in Wales. Holyhead is a port where we got a ferry to Dublin.

When we got to Dublin, we went to a villa near the port called Villa Maria. It had a garden, pool table, air hockey table, darts + board and a beach at the end of the road. It was really nice and we stayed there for three days.

Then we went to a restaurant called Stoop Your Head. We had some really nice mussels and seafood. I loved it all.

Then, the next day we went to the Guinness storehouse, where we got to see how beer’s produced and the different steps of making it. We also saw where customers can taste new beers that aren’t out to the public. Then we saw lots of Guinness adverts that had come and gone. There was a 360 degree bar at the top of the building where you could see over Dublin.

In the afternoon, we went to The Little Museum of Dublin, where we got told about Dublin’s past and how the Republic of Ireland formed.

The next day, we went to a market in the city centre for a delicious lamb sandwich and a cronut (half croissant and half donut). There was also a cheese stall (all homemade cheeses) and a bakers.

Then we went to the National Leprechaun Museum where we learnt that leprechauns didn’t wear green, but brown and red! We then went through a magic tunnel where we shrunk to the size of leprechauns. We then went into a normal sized room (for humans) where there was giant furniture (normal human-sized) for us to play on.

We then went into a room where we learnt about the wars between humans and pixies and how we won.

Then, we went to a dim sum restaurant called Lucky Tortoise, where we had lots of nice food before we went back to Villa Maria.

The next day, we went rock pooling on the beach and saw some interesting creatures, like razor clams and mussels.

Then before we left to go to Belfast, we went and got an ice cream from an old parlour near Stoop Your Head. I had an orange flavoured ice cream that was unusual and tasty.

My Grand Trip to Germany 🇩🇪 – Part Two

This is the second blog the first one is here.

The next day we went to the Jewish memorial for the murdered jews of Europe. It was about World War 2 and had lots of facts and extracts from letters and diaries. Then we went to get some falafels from Da-Da: they were delicious!😋 After that, we went to Princess Cheesecake for some…cheesecake! I had a blueberry cheesecake; it was delicious! I also had some homemade lemonade. When we had finished our cheesecake, we went to Checkpoint Charlie which had helped over 5,075 people cross from East Germany to West Germany. The office even had a man wearing a uniform outside! Then we went to the Deutsches Currywurst Museum. It was really interesting! I had a quiz to do and got most of it correct. Then for tea we went to BRLO a really nice restaurant and brewery.

The day after, we went to the Computerspielemuseum which is a computer game museum. They had loads of computer games on display; many of them were English. Most of them you were allowed to play, however others were just for looking at.

When we had had enough of computer games we went to Sheeso for some delicious burgers. I had a cheeseburger. It was mouth-watering.

Sadly, it was the last day of the holiday we had one of the best things to do… go to the Reichstag, the German parliament building. As we went up the dome I had an amazing panoramic view of Berlin. You could see right to the edge of the city, it was terrific!!! Then we went to the zoo. Here are some of the animals we saw.

Then we went to Seaside for our tea .We had fish and it was all laid out on the counter so you could just ask for that to be cooked. We had load of fish.

Sadly, that was the last day of the holiday. I loved it in Germany and want to go back. This was probably the best holiday ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Grand Trip to Germany Part 1

In the summer holidays, I went on a fantastic holiday to Germany 🇩🇪 here are the highlights:

Day 1

When we arrived in Germany, rented a car and went to a lake beach.

We relaxed for a bit, then we went to a park called britzer garten. I got into a load of water sprays and got soaked, then we had a wiener (Pronounced v-ee-n-ur.) A wiener is a hot dog.

When we got in the car we were all looking forward to having a schnitzel.

After the park, we went to Felix Austria, a place for delicious schnitzels. Then we went to our apartment with our bellies full up of schnitzels.

Day 2

The next day, we went to a Peacock Island ( Pfaueninsel) and we had to get on a boat to get to the island.

On the island, we had a picnic and went into a white castle.

When we went back to main land we went to the apartment for a bit and then went to The Bird for burgers. They were delicious. Afterwards, we went to BrewDog for a few drinks.

Day 3

We went to Mount Mitte, which was a really high climbing thing, and I really enjoyed it!

After that we went to a fast food restaurant to have currywurst (pronounced curry-vurst) – a sausage covered in curry sauce – YUM.

Next we went to Stone Brewing to go on a brewery tour.

The restaurant was really fancy with fans and trees everywhere. One table was even carved into a tree. The food was really nice.

Day 4

We went to the wall museum on the fourth day and learnt about the German division.

Later onwards, we went to Mogg & Melzer a jewish restaurant and had some delicious sandwiches.

Afterwards, we went up the Berlin TV Tower and got some amazing panoramic views of Berlin.

Then, we went to see part of the wall that was left up. For tea we went to a street food festival and had currywurst.

That’s it for now but I’ll be back soon with the next few days in Germany.

My Amazing Trip to Scotland Part 2

Aberdeen

After we went to Edinburgh we went to Aberdeen and we stayed in a really nice apartment. The day after we arrived in Aberdeen we went out to a park and there was a kind gardener who gave us some freshly grown peas right out of the pods. I went on some slides as wel,l which were amazing, so were the winter gardens, which house the largest cacti garden in the whole of the UK!

Then after dinner we went to the Aberdeen science centre and there was loads of cool things to do and we went to watch two shows a space show and an experiment show.

Then we went for tea at a Japanese restaurant called Yatai Izakaya and we had some edamame and miso soup and lots of other stuff.

The next day me, Georgia and Mummy went to Codonas amusement park. There were loads of good rides like the looping star roller coaster, the pirate island adventure golf, dead man’s drop tower, disco waltzers, vertigo aerial assault course, white water log flume and the galleon flying pirate ship, we also went in the animal barn and the XD motion cinema. The XD film was about a dinosaur safari escape! To take a look at the map click here.

Then for tea we went to a restaurant called The Boozy Cow and I had a Nutella doughnut, reese’s pieces and kinder Bueno milkshake whilst we looked at the menu. For my main course I had a maple bacon cheese burger, which included cheese, onion, pickles, bacon and other stuff.

My Amazing Trip to Scotland Part 1

Edinburgh

In the holidays, I went to Scotland for a week and first we went to Edinburgh and then to Aberdeen afterwards. When we arrived in Edinburgh, we went to Arthur’s Seat, which is an extinct volcano; Arthur’s Seat is 250.5 m (822 ft) high, and it was really hard work climbing up it, but was worth it because it had loads of amazing views all around.

The next day we went to Camera Obscura and World of Illusions, which was brilliant. It had loads of good views from the top and you can spy on people, give them electric shocks and play the stairs, when you walked on the stairs they played the piano and so much more. From the gift shop I got a Spy pen and a static science kit. My favourite thing there was a mirror maze, which was really tricky.

Then we went to a really nice restaurant for dinner, called Ondine, and had lots of shellfish.

Then we went to Edinburgh Castle and saw the 1 ‘O’ clock gun, my favourite part was the prisons and, I got locked in one of them, with GEORGIA.

Then for tea we went to the Scran and Scallie and I had fish and chips.

On the last day for dinner we went to a restaurant called Fishers, which is right next to the sea, and ate lots more seafood.

Afterwards we went to Greyfriars Kirk and found out the story of Greyfriars bobby (a dog) his owner is an Edinburgh policeman named John Gray who died in 1858. His dog was so loyal that he watched over his dead master’s grave at the Greyfriars Cemetery for 14 years until his own death in 1872.

My favourite place that we went to was Camera Obscura and World of Illusions.

The morning after we went to the Hinds Head, we went for a drive and I was super surprised when we arrived at Legoland Windsor Resort! We went on lots of rides mostly lego themed, there were lots of rides – over 55 all together, click here to find out about other rides. There was so much to do that we went for two days.

Miniland was lots of different places from around the world made of LEG0, like America NASA, which had a countdown timer, when it went to zero there was a rocket which smoke came out of.

On this you had to drive around in fiat mini cars with pedals, the right pedal makes you go faster and the left slower, there were speed cameras, traffic lights and a garage.

This was the water rapids ride, we got soaked!

The Dragon

This was my personal favourite, it’s a rollercoaster that goes through some rooms in a castle with a dragon and a wizard and lots of other stuff, then it exits the building and goes sideways and through the trees.

My Brilliant Half Term

Monday

Rivington Pike

On Monday we went to Rivington Pike up to the top and I only had one rest on the whole journey which was at the top of the Pike, so I was exhausted by the time I got to the top! The view was the best I’d ever seen it I could see so far out!

We were going back down the Pike, but we went a different way I’d never been before. At last we were at the bottom of the Pike and then we went and had a drink in the Great Hall Barn and I had a hot chocolate. Mmmm! 🙂

Tuesday

Grandad Comes

On Tuesday Grandad came to babysit and bought us each a Galaxy Chocolate Flurry that was delicious. After tea we played a game of Bugs In The Kitchen and two games of Monopoly Deal.

Wednesday

On Wednesday we watched ” Honey, I Shrunk The Kid”, which was really good I’m really looking forward to watching the next one “Honey, I Blew Up The Kids “.

Friday

Spending WHSmith £20 Gift Card

On Friday we went to WHSmith in Manchester to spend our £20 Gift Cards from Uncle Bob Auntie Lauren and Brandon. First we went to Debenhams for Georgia to spend her £25 voucher and I looked at a lot of things that I really liked there were so many of them!

Then we went to WHSmith and I bought three books for the price of two which were The Person Controller, Tom Gates Everything’s Amazing (sort of), Tom Gates Genius Ideas (mostly) and a Brainbox The World.

Afterwards we went to BrewDog and I started reading Tom Gates Everything’s Amazing (sort of) and had a apple fritz which was delicious.

After that we went out for tea at Yard and Coop and we had buttermilk fried chicken, sweet potato chips and normal chips and sauce for mains, I had a Mama Mia sauce which is just an Italian pasta sauce which was really nice.

Our sides were Not chicken which is Halloumi in breadcrumbs, slaw and amazeballs which are corn balls.

For dessert we had two brownies which were amazing.

I really enjoyed the whole of my half term and would love to do everything again! The buttermilk fried chicken was delicious and so were all the sides, Friday was probably the best day of the whole week and Yard and Coop was probably the best thing!!!

Day 5

Malcesine and Lake Garda

First we went to Malcesine and stopped for a picnic dinner on the side of Lake Garda. When we had had our dinner we went for a cable car ride up a huge mountain called: Monte Baldo right to the top.

When we got to the top of the mountain we started exploring and found a cable car used in 1962.

Then we went to some hills on the mountain and found a playground. After that we went to the top of another hill on the mountain and looked down at Lake Garda from 1,800 metres above sea level.

Afterward we went down the mountain again in the cable cars. When we got to the station at the bottom of the mountain we drove to a place like a beach and Lake Garda was like the sea and we had a swim in the lake.

Then we went back to the apartment and got a takeaway pizza for tea.

Day 6

Gardaland Resort and La Pampa

First we went to Gardaland Resort, which is a theme park.

Did you know that Gardaland is the biggest theme park in Italy!?!?!?!?!?

The first thing we went on was called: Fuga Da Atlantide, which is a Log Flume. Sadly we didn’t really get wet at all except at the end when water guns soaked us!

Then we went on the Jungle Rapids and then the Mammut a Roller Coaster.

Also I went on the Flying Island, which is like a space ship that goes up and up really high, and you can see lots of lovely views of Gardaland and Lake Garda which is next to Gardaland.

Then there was the Space Vertigo where you go up a tall tower in the shape of a mushroom and some pulleys that pull you up drop you when you are at the top and you go down the tower to where you started off. I went on that ride twice.

After that I went on the Magic Mountain, which is a Roller Coaster and the Colorado Boat another Log Flume and a Peter Pan ride in a ship going round, and round in a circle. After that I went on a Merry-go-round called: Giostra Cavalli and I went on a horse that went up and down all the time.

After Gardaland Resort we went to a restaurant called: La Pampa, which is a famous meat restaurant, so we had some delicious Steak, Chicken, Sausages & Ribs. The sausages were my favourite.

Day 7

Gardaland Sealife Aquarium

We went to Gardaland Sealife Aquarium and I touched a real starfish and saw lots of amazing fish.

We also saw lots of other sea animals like sharks, crabs, the great Japenese spider crab, Clownfish and lots of other fish you can imagine.

Then at night we went to a restaurant called: Alle Vigne and I had a Scallop gratin.

Day 8

Padua and Venice (Venezia) Airport

On the last day we packed our bags and stopped for a last pizza made in Italy in Padua called Pinsa and we had a a wander around Padua on the way to the airport.
